A single source audio system has one common receiver amplifier which
is connected to the multi-room audio system. Different input sources
can be selected at the amplifier, but all the zones hear the
selected input. Several manufacturers offer multi-room receiver
amplifiers which allow dual sourcing specified zones or levels. The
CD player could be the source for the upstairs zones while the FM
receiver sources the other basement zones. Single source multi-room
audio systems are common because the listening habits for casual and
entertaining prefer common music throughout.
